Joan of Arc

Given to the city of Orleans from the French, this statue honors Joan of Arc.  Nicknamed "The Maid of Orleans," Joan a national heroine of France who was put on trial by the pro-English Bishop of Beauvais and burned at the stake at the age of nineteen.  Years later, Pope Callixtus III examined the trial and pronounced her to be innocent and declared her a martyr.
